WHY AN ENDODONTIC SPECIALIST?

Endodontists Save Teeth
All endodontists are dentists, but less than three percent of dentists are endodontists. While your general dentist is like a family doctor, great for regular cleanings, check-ups and general oral health, for specialized dental care like root canal treatment, seeing an endodontist is your best choice. Your endodontist will work closely with your dentist to improve your oral health and restore your natural teeth.

COMMON SYMPTOMS

Tooth or gum pain, discoloration, or prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold
A tooth that is tender when it is touched
A tooth abscess (pus enclosed in the tissues of the jawbone at the tip of an infected tooth)
Pus drainage in your mouth
Swelling or tenderness in the lymph nodes under your jaw
Sometimes an endodontic problem can exist without warning signs. In these cases, a Digital X-ray taken during a routine dental checkup will reveal the tooth damage.
Facial swelling or sinus pain

AFTER TREATMENT CARE

After your procedure, your endodontist will send you home with instructions for pain management and how to care for your tooth while recovering from treatment and until a follow-up visit. Following guidelines for care is especially important if a temporary filling or crown is in place.
Though you may experience a slightly different sensation from your treated tooth than your other teeth for some time, you should contact your endodontist immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Severe pain or pressure lasting more than a few days
  • Visible swelling inside or outside your mouth
  • An allergic reaction to medication (rash, hives or itching)
  • Your bite feels uneven
  • The temporary crown or filling, if one was put in place, comes out (losing a thin layer is normal)
  • Symptoms you experienced prior to treatment return

Our Services

LONG TERM RESTORATION

Because there is no substitute that is as good as your natural tooth, our goal is to restore your teeth to their original function. There are many different treatments in the field of Endodontics specific to your needs to extend the longevity of your tooth.

ROOT CANALS

Trauma, repeated dental procedures, and even a cracked or chipped tooth are just a few causes that may lead to inflamation or infection of the soft tissue inside the root canal. This can be corrected with Root Canal Treatment.

RETREATMENT

Some times a root canal can possibly get reinfected. An endodontic specialist is needed to clean out the old root canal material, remove infection and refill the canals with new, sterile material to increase prognosis.
